WP Engine Joins Open Web Companies to Stand With Ukraine

WP Engine, alongside fellow web infrastructure companies Acquia, Fastly, Gatsby, Netlify, and Pantheon, announced a joint commitment to cease business operations with Russian-owned companies in response to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

Humanitarian Response

The company established multiple relief initiatives following the invasion. WP Engine made corporate donations and matched employee contributions to the Ukraine Humanitarian Fund and Polish Humanitarian Action. The organization also provided its Krakow office as a refuge for displaced Ukrainians.

Business Action

WP Engine halted all business relationships with Russian companies utilizing its platform, demonstrating corporate accountability in response to geopolitical events. This decision aligned with similar actions taken by other major web infrastructure providers.

Internet Freedom

The coalition pledged support for the Open Observatory of Network Interference (OONI), emphasizing that the internet is humankind’s most essential link to the outside world. All people deserve unrestricted internet access regardless of location. In times of conflict, the open web becomes more important than ever.
